General Announcements

The ASCLD Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of John M. Collins as the new Executive Director. 

John has served as the director of the DuPage County Forensic Science Center in suburban Chicago since 2000.  John holds a Master's degree in Organizational Management and is formally certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resource Management through the Human Resource Certification Institute. 

John sat on the ASCLD Board of Directors from 2004 through 2007, serving as the Communications Chair and the website manager.  John was instrumental in developing the Crime Lab Minute.  He has also earned national recognition for his work in creating and managing Crime Lab Report, a media and public policy publication dedicated to serving the forensic science community.

John comes to ASCLD with the experience of having worked as a forensic scientist in federal, state, and local laboratories.  He testified before the National Academy of Sciences committee on forensic science in 2007 and his work was cited in the now famous 2009 report, "Strengthing Forensic Science in the United States: A Path Forward" 

John speaks frequently to groups about contemporary issues and policies in forensic science and is a strong supporter of ASCLD.   Please join us in congratulating John and welcoming him to his new position.
